As I wrote in my previous blog, Parkland is a great place for senior citizens to call home. ln that blog I focused on housing options. Now, I would like to share with you other reasons that make Parkland a great place to spend your golden years.
P-REC
The P-REC is Parkland’s community/recreation center. It is located at Pine Trails Park and hosts a wide range of classes and programs for Parklanders including active adults. Seniors enjoy yoga, pilates, Zumba, outdoor fitness classes, pickleball clinics and so much more. Every day there is something for our elders to participate in. In addition to daily offerings, the P-REC organizes field trips for 62 and over residents.
Parkland Library
The Library is the city of Parkland’s own library. It is not part of the county library system. It is truly a gem. Residents of Parkland enjoy classes, crafts, lectures, games, book clubs, writing workshops, art exhibits and so much more. Additionally, the library has a very active and strong volunteer group, Friends of the Library. The mission of Friends of the Library is to support the services of the library and to build a strong relationship between the library and the community.
Clubs and Other Activities
As mentioned in a previous article, many communities offer activities for their older residents to enjoy. Besides those offered by private communities, there are groups, events, clubs, and other activities throughout. Also, the city hosts some wonderful events for people of all ages to enjoy.
