The Stage at Pine Trails Park Is Due for Resurfacing. Here's What Parkland Estates' Neighbor Park Hosts Before Then

Parkland Estates has just 35 estate homes, and they sit right beside Pine Trails Park. Living that close means the park's calendar reaches your street. When the fields fill, you hear whistles and see cars from out of town. When the amphitheater lights up, the sound carries. The park is part of daily life here as much as it is a place to visit.

Over the next six weeks the park's two biggest gatherings will use two specific spots: the multipurpose fields and the Amphitheatre stage at 10561 Trails End. Both are named in the accessibility project the Parkland City Commission approved on October 7, 2026. So this season's events happen on facilities the city has already funded to rework.

The Fields Go First, November 20 to 22

The busiest weekend of the month belongs to youth soccer. Parkland Soccer Club is hosting the 2026 Parkland Legacy Cup from November 20 to 22, and the club lists Pine Trails Park as the tournament's main site in Parkland. The bracket covers boys and girls teams from U8 through U19. The Florida Youth Soccer Association sanctions the tournament, and it is open to teams registered with any US Soccer member organization, including US Club Soccer, AYSO and USSSA.

According to the club's schedule, matches run Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22. Local teams may also be asked to play on Friday, November 20. If you live next door, plan for a full weekend of field use, and possibly a Friday too. The club calls the event "a great way to wind down the year 2026," and its timing makes it the last large field event on the park's fall calendar.

The fields matter for a second reason. One of the four items in the city's new accessibility scope is "improving access to multi-purpose fields." The tournament will be played on those same fields this month, before that work begins.

December 11 Happens on the Stage the Grant Names

Three weeks after the tournament, attention shifts from the fields to the Amphitheatre. The city has scheduled Light Up the Park for Friday, December 11, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pine Trails Park Amphitheatre. The city's listing describes performances by local schools and community organizations with holiday music, dance and seasonal entertainment, plus children's activities, bounce houses and food trucks. The evening ends with everyone gathering for the lighting of the park.

The listing does not mention tickets or registration for guests.

The stage lineup is still being set. The city is looking for youth performance groups, school programs, dance teams, choirs, bands and other community organizations, and applications have been on the city's website since November 1. Businesses and organizations can also sponsor the event.

The project's scope includes "resurfacing the Amphitheater stage and ramp." The children's choirs and dance teams who perform on December 11 will be using the stage surface and ramp that the project plans to redo. The city's facility page calls the Amphitheatre the setting for the Eats & Beats series and multiple special events, so the stage gets steady use well beyond one December night.

Where This Season Overlaps the Project

The city's Pine Trails Park facility page lists multipurpose fields, a playground, restrooms, trails, basketball courts, concessions, a pavilion and fishing. The accessibility project covers four of those spaces, and the coming weeks use each of them in a different way.

Part of the park What uses it this season What the project covers
Multipurpose fields Parkland Legacy Cup, November 20 to 22 Improving access to the fields
Amphitheatre stage and ramp Light Up the Park, December 11 Resurfacing the stage and ramp
Playground Everyday use by families Playground improvements
Restrooms Visitors on every busy day, including tournament weekend Restroom renovations

The fields host the season's largest crowd, the stage hosts its biggest community night, and the playground and restrooms serve visitors at both.

What the $1 Million Is For

Resolution 2026-066, included in the October 7 City Commission meeting packet, describes the money as a $500,000 appropriation from the 2026 Florida Legislature for "special needs accommodations at Pine Trails Park" and states that it carries a "required 1:1 match." With Parkland's matching $500,000, the total is $1 million, as Parkland News reported on October 14. The same report says the work is meant to give people of all abilities more chances to use the park's recreational facilities.

The way the grant is set up affects the pace of the work. According to the city staff summary in the same packet, the Land and Recreation Grants Section within the Division of State Lands manages it as a cost-reimbursement grant, under an agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Parkland pays eligible project costs first, and the state then pays back its share. The staff summary says the money supports capital projects already in the city's FY 2026 and FY 2027 budgets, and that once the contract is signed, its term is expected to be three years.

That three-year term over two budget years explains why the Legacy Cup and Light Up the Park are going ahead this year on the current stage and fields. The commission approved the agreement in October, and the work is meant to be paid for in stages over the life of the contract.

Three More Dates Outside the Park

Some of Parkland's best-known holiday dates happen at other locations or have their own entry rules. Here they are in calendar order:

  1. Farmers' Market, opened November 1. The season began on November 1 at the Equestrian Center at Temple Park, with free admission and local farmers, food vendors, artisans and small businesses, according to the city calendar.
  2. Holiday Craft Fair, December 6. The Farmers' Market is holding a Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with more than 40 vendors. Admission and parking are free.
  3. Snowfest, December 17. Snowfest runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and costs $20 per child. It is open to Parkland residents only, registration starts Tuesday, December 1, and no tickets are sold at the door.

Of these, Snowfest is the only one that needs advance planning. Registration opens December 1, ten days before Light Up the Park.
