Parkland is a wonderful community to raise a family. However, it is not just for the young, it is also for the Young at Heart. Parkland offers a wide range of activities, clubs, classes, events, and housing options for our seniors. In this edition, I will share the housing options and communities that make Parkland a desirable place to live for senior citizens.

55 and Over Community

Parkland has two 55 and over communities, Four Seasons and The Falls at Parkland. Both are new and are still offering newly constructed homes. Residents at both communities enjoy impressive clubhouses with full-time onsite lifestyle directors, world-class amenities, a host of activities/clubs, security, and the most advanced hurricane protection standards available. Besides resort-style amenities, exteriors are maintained allowing residents to enjoy a maintenance-free and active lifestyle.

  • FOUR SEASONS
Single Family Homes with 2-3 Bedrooms, Den/Office, 2-3 Bathrooms, 2-3 Car Garage, Private Pools or Room for Pools.
  • FALLS OF PARKLAND
Single Family Homes and Attached Villas with 2-3 Bedrooms, Den/Office, 2-3.5 Bathrooms, 2-3 Car Garage, Private Pools or Room for Pools.

All-Age Communities Offering an Active Lifestyle

If a 55 plus community is not for you, Parkland has many “all age” communities that boast smaller homes, lawn/exterior maintenance, and luxurious recreational facilities. Here are a few:

  • Heron Bay
Heron Bay is Parkland’s largest community and has an extremely comprehensive offering of home designs. In Heron Bay, you will find small neighborhoods made up of townhomes, villas, small single-family homes, estates, and mansions. Some of these neighborhoods provide lawn and exterior maintenance. Additionally, you will find 2 clubhouses, fitness centers, tennis/pickleball courts, several community pools, walking trails and so much more. There are clubs for every interest including empty nesters and seniors.
  • Parkland Golf and Country Club
Besides stunning mansions and estates, Parkland Golf does have townhomes and smaller 1 story homes. As you would expect, there is a golf course and everything you would desire from an upscale country club.
  • Mira Lago
Mira Lago is a large community and is sited on Parkland’s largest lake. Some home designs include townhomes and smaller one-story homes, making them perfect for seniors. Residents enjoy a stunning clubhouse and a comprehensive menu of amenities and activities.
  • Cascata
This new community is an extension of MiraLago. Although Cascata has a grand clubhouse with recreational offerings, its residents are able to enjoy MiraLago’s amenities. Cascata homes have 3-6 bedrooms, 3-6.5 Bathrooms, 2-3 Garages, and most are waterfront. The 3 bedroom homes are one story and are a perfect option for retirees. You will love its modern and mid-century influences.
  • Parkland Isles
Parkland Ises is a community made up of waterways, peninsulas, and walking paths. It does have a clubhouse with a fitness center, and other recreational offerings. Since it is older than the aforementioned communities, the trees and landscape are mature and add to the communities’ beauty. Besides large 6 plus bedroom homes, there are smaller one story 3 to 4 bedroom
    homes.

Maintenance Free Communities

Not everyone desires a large active community with impressive amenities or the monthly fees found with them. Some prefer an intimate and more relaxed setting. Parkland does have a few smaller subdivisions where lawn and exterior maintenance is included in the HOA fees. Most of them have smaller homes sited on zero lot line lots and a few have townhomes. Many do have small clubhouses and community pools. Since the scale of the amenities is smaller, the HOA fees are lower than most in Parkland. They are perfect for those seeking a carefree lifestyle. They are close to parks, walking trails, dining, shopping, places of worship, and the tennis center.

Multi-Generation Homes

There are few places in South Florida that offer the space and home design freedom multi-generation households need more than Parkland. As a result, Parkland has always been a preferred area for multi-generation households. Specifically, Parkland’s popularity with this demographic is its large homes and homes with guest houses situated on large one acre plus lots. These homes and lots allow families to live together and still have private spaces. Additionally, both the Ranches and Pine Tree Estates do not have homeowner associations. This allows for guesthouses with full kitchens vs.kitchenettes.

  • The Ranches aka BBB Ranches
Lots in the Ranches range from approx. 3 acres and larger. As a result, there are many homes that have sizable guest houses with full kitchens.
  • Pine Tree Estates
Homes in Pine Tree Estates are sited on 1.09 acres and larger. You will find many homes in Pine Tree Estates with guest houses and in-law suites.
  • Cypress Head
Cypress Head is a guard-gated upscale community with a Homeowner’s Association. Since the lots are large, you will find many large estates with true guesthouses. Besides offering space, Cypress Head has a clubhouse with world-class amenities.

Independent and Assisted Living Residences

For those who need more assistance Parkland has two independent/assisted communities. Both provide varying levels of care within a beautiful setting.

Lastly, since most homes in Parkland were built after hurricane Andrew, many were constructed with the highest rated materials and standards. Most homes provide some form of hurricane protection for windows and doors. The newer communities have impact windows and doors for easy hurricane preparation.
