This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love hearing the Stoneman Douglas band rehearse, seeing the football team practice or the cross country team running on Parkland’s pathways, as I travel Holmberg Road. This signals the end of the Lazy Days of Summer and the anticipation of a new school year is in the air. Sports leagues, extracurricular activities and other classes are gearing up for the new season. To help you celebrate the end of summer and to kick off the new school year, I want to share some great happenings and resources throughout the city.
Saturday, September 9th. Back-to-School Splash Bash
In Parkland, Florida the best way to celebrate a new school year and the beginning of fall is an event requiring a bathing suit. We may not have autumn leaves or sweater weather, but we have sunny warm days making it perfect for water slides and other cool outdoor fun.
Get Ready For Some Football
The Douglas High School Football Season is kicking off a new season with a new coach. Parkland loves their high school and its students. They also love Football. Head on over to the Eagle Nest aka Cumber Stadium to show some love to our Eagles and enjoy the Friday Night Lights.
Also, we cannot discuss Parkland football without mentioning Parkland Rangers Tackle Football and Cheer, Parkland Flag Football and the Parkland Sports Buddy Football Program. All 3 programs are great football rec leagues for younger Parklanders.
All Things Parkland
The city just released the Parkland Playbook August-December Edition. This publication contains all things Parkland. In it you will find classes, sport leagues, events, camps, after school programs, special events and so much more. The city offers a wide range of activities and programs for residents of all ages including infants and seniors.
Parkland’s Best Kept Secret
Parkland has its very own city run library. The City of Parkland Library is a great resource during the school year and beyond. Residents of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of age-specific offerings. The library provides Parklanders with story times, homework help/tutoring, lectures, book clubs, writing cafes, art classes and so much more.
As always, feel free to contact me regarding your real estate needs and/or Parkland. Have a fun and great year!
