Although the holiday season has come to a close, there are still some great things to enjoy in Parkland throughout the month of January. Here is a list of 10 events and activities that are taking place this month:

Family Fun Fest Carnival: The Family Fun Fest Carnival is Parkland’s largest and most attended the event. It is a 3 day carnival featuring rides, games, concerts, performances, and food. This year it is held at Pine Trails Park and begins on Friday, January 13th.

A Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.: Parkland will honor and celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday night January 16th at Pine Trails Park. Attendees will enjoy food trucks, music, speakers and inspirational performances.

Mayors’ Chess Challenge: Parkland will host the 8th annual Mayors’ Chess Challenge on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the P-REC. Parkland residents, elected officials, and community leaders will meet up for a friendly chess game. All ages and levels are invited.

Lace Up Your Sneakers and Support a Great Cause: On Sunday, January 8, 2023, The Friendship Circle is hosting a 3k walk and fun day at Pine Trails Park in Parkland. The event will feature a variety of activities, including a moon bounce, an America’s Got Talent show, a petting zoo, and more. All funds raised will benefit individuals with disabilities.

Get in Shape: There are plenty of opportunities to be active in Parkland. Sign up for a fitness class at the P-Rec, walk/run/bike on Parkland’s extensive multi-purpose trails, take advantage of Parkland’s Tennis/Pickle Ball courts, take riding lessons at one of Parkland’s Equestrian facilities or join one of the many sports leagues in Parkland. Lastly, visit one of our many parks and drop in a yoga in the park class, boot camp or running group. Parkland has something for everyone!

Exercise your Brain: Learn something new or take up a new hobby to challenge the Noggin. The Parkland Library offers many programs for children, teens, adults and seniors. Join a book club, a writing workshop, listen to a lecture, or bring the young ones to storytime. In addition to offerings at the Parkland Library, the P-REC features a wide range of learning opportunities.
Photography, Coding, Robotics, Music, and Cooking are just a few of the available classes offered to Parklanders ages infants to seniors.

Parkland Farmers’ Market: If you are a Parkland resident you know how great our Farmers’ Market is. With over a 100 vendors, it is one of South Florida’s largest. It is not just about veggies & fruits that make it so popular. People come from all over South Florida for the homemade donuts, fresh seafood, plants, flowers, handmade soaps and so much more. Also, it is a great opportunity to gather with friends and enjoy a beautiful Sunday.

Be Adventurous: Take an airboat ride, go fishing or hike in the Everglades. There are some great opportunities to enjoy the wild beauty of the Everglades.
